My mind is somewhere between a pinball machine & a McDonald’s Playland. It’s all about the thoughts & holding on, to remember & attend to my internal dialogue. Sometimes it’s a pinball machine. My focus is the shiny, silver ball. I give a thought a tap (with the flipper button) & apply the wait time & see what happens. The thought often collides with other barriers & it’s my mission to keep my eye on the ball & follow through with the original inception of the idea, watch it be affected by the environment & embrace it as it changes & grows. The HOPE & AIM is to still BE THERE, with both my hands on the magic buttons that control the future of the idea. To keep it from falling into the canal of silver balls, all lined up & waiting for a second go-around.
The other challenge is the McDonald’s Playland, which is my purse, my mind, my intellectual capacity all departmentalized & shifting around. Everything is just a google click away, within my own mind, it’s all there. My charge is to find the specific bouncy ball/idea/resource I am seeking. Everything is within reach & all the answers are just a click away. I just have to focus enough to REMEMBER WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR. That, that is the objective, the vision, the purpose of the mission I am embarking on; the truth I hope to find…
If you’re BRAVE & BOLD & INTRIGUED…follow me. I’ll be searching for what I’m looking for (which is likely already in my purse, which is my archive of McDonald’s Playland balls). I just have to find IT & focus to keep it moving & changing & growing within this pinball machine.
The Couch Surfing & Camping begins! As I travel & reflect & create my adventure, if you’d like to be a part of my journey, complete the form at the attached link.

Erica! Love it! You are on your own “Heroine’s Journey”. Here is the link to Joseph Campbell I mentioned and an outline of The Hero’s Journey we all must go thru in our lives, he suggests, and is at the base of all Mythology. Often several times throughout our lives and really…everyday in smaller possibly and more simple ways.
You have entered the “Crossing of the First Threshold”. The “Belly of The Whale” awaits. This is great reading for any of your other followers too and represents the base structure of most Hollywood films as well. Campbell was a primary influence on both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Good luck! Be safe. Beware the “Shapeshifters”!

Upon the posting of your comment, I reviewed the link referenced & considered “The Hero’s Journey” as a theoretical outline, which may or may not coincide with MY JOURNEY. I really didn’t know consciously know where I was or what I was doing back in August. Sure, I had a plan, places to stay, plane tickets acquired & suitcases packed. Yet, I didn’t know what I would do when I arrived at my destinations or how I expected to be affected.
Yet, my intentions had been set; “The Supernatural Aid” stage had definitely passed, as I had committed to leaving “the known” world, formerly know as my life. As I “crossed the threshold” all hell broke lose, as I realized people in my life & bystanders in my childhood town were wondering & asking why I was around & what my intentions for my life were. At this point, I created & committed to specific verbiage to describe my adventure & intentions, in order to legitimize my journey. In all reality, I had resigned from a well paying job (it’s all relative), refused to have a home & denied the logic of having a plan for my course. My commitment was and is solely to rediscovering myself & deconstructing the skeletons in my closet.
I’m still in “The Crossing of the First Threshold”, so maybe that will help interested parties realize that although the length of my journey is unknown, I have a long ways to go to master “The Freedom of Life”.
Thank you for sharing this reflective tool & I intend to gather & study the works of Joseph Campbell in this next phase of my adventures.
